Background

UNDP’s Recruitment efforts are defined to ensure that a diverse and versatile pool of staff with the required knowledge, competencies and leadership/management skills are ready to fill UNDP positions to effectively execute this organization's Strategic Plan. Robust Vacancy Management and Recruitment are components of a broader UNDP Talent Management Strategy. The Recruitment and Selection activities are intended to provide UNDP country offices and headquarters hiring units with the principles governing recruitment and selection and specific guidance for filling vacant posts at the local and international levels. Vacancy Management includes the advertising of UNDP jobs online as well as through other media as required. UNDP advertises close to 150 vacancies weekly

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manages UNDP’s vacancy announcements to ensure consistency and compliance with UNDP’s standards
  • Reviews draft vacancy announcements to ensure:
  1. Supporting documentation has been uploaded and is consistent with submission;
  2. Appropriate use of acronyms
  3. Consistency of style
  4. Absence of typographical errors
  5. Job requirements are in line with the advertised level of the post
  • Provides guidance to hiring units regarding corporate standards
  • Liaises with hiring units to clarify any questions arising from the review
  • Responds to requests from the hiring units for amendments to the vacancy announcements

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • A first University Degree from an accredited educational institution. 

     

Experience:

  • At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in a related work field
  • Familiarity with UNDP Recruitment processes desirable
  • Understanding of the general UN context and previous experience in a field-based UN entity a distinct advantage
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft word.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English. 
  • Excellent writting, drafting and drafting skills.
