Background

The Consultant(s) will support the DGD/CSO transitional work plan –specifically the documentation and mapping of CSO partners and non-partners programming relevant to DGD’s primary objectives of supporting NASS, INEC, political parties and deepening democracy in Nigeria.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Hold one on one meetings with CSO members, staff, leadership to secure more in depth information regarding their activities;
- Document the challenges and lessons learned as experienced by DGD’s CSO partners;
- Develop a report (including initial outline, table of context, and DGD CSO partner’s challenges and lessons learned.
- Provide snapshots of CSOs relevant to DGD’s work—especially those working in the context of coalitions and or platforms; and
- Develop a database of contact information for those CSOs;
- Complete a desktop review of CSO strategic plans, mapping etc. that has already been completed.

CSO documentation:
- Excellent work experience in engaging civil society organizations in the areas of civic education, advocacy, legislative reform, gender and youth;
- Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management and reporting;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to lead formulation and evaluation of development programmes and projects;
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude;
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills;
- Builds strong relationships with clients and external actors;
- Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of an advanced university degree in the field of political science, law, international relations or other social science related subject.
- At least seven years progressive professional experience in CSO engagement- especially in the areas of civic education, advocacy, and legislative reform;
- Familiarity with the DGD CSO programming and/or similar programmes; and
- Familiarity with Nigerian political landscape an advantage
- Strong skills in written communications in English;
- Excellent spoken English is also required.
