Background

The College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University is seeking the technical assistance of an expert in the field of training of post graduate students in disability and disability related matters inluding psychological disorders. Such a technical assistance will enable the College for Social Sciences to build capacity amongst its post graduate students so as to empower them and prepare them for the relocation to the work enviornment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objectives:

Train 50 post graduate students in clinical psychology matters that are related to disabilities.
Build local capacity and provide field training to enable students to be ready for the working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Outputs:
Train candidates on how best to support the following categories:

Individuals with mental challenges and those with low general abilities.
How to assess and diagnose individuals with disabilities.
How to early identify individuals with disabilities.
How to provide assistance for individuals with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
How to identify and support children with psychological disorders.
How to write assessment reports and individual educational plans.
Conduct seminars and training sessions with candidates and observe them while working in the field.

Expected Outputs:

Training Programme for 50 candidates with theoritcal and practical elements.

Competencies

Knowledge of Kuwait University and its postgraduate studies programme (preferably knowledge of clinical psychology background).
Past relevant expertise in executing similar projects and working in the field of persons with disabilities.

Required Skills and Experience

PhD in the field of speciality (preferably Kuwaiti national).
