Background |
The UN Women (UNW), grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the centre of all its efforts, the UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. Under the guidance and supervision of the Administrative Associate, the Messenger provides reliable messenger and cleaning services. The Messenger demonstrates a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities |
1. Provides efficient messenger services focusing on achievement of the following results: • Sorting, delivery and pick up of mail from various offices on the premises at regular intervals. Maintenance of records as required. • Packaging/packing of material received for dispatch; labeling, inserting material in envelopes and franking outgoing mail. • Photocopying and duplicating services. • Other duties as required. 2. Provides efficient cleaning services focusing on achievement of the following results: • Ensure proper day-to-day Cleaning of all UN Women Ethiopia country offices • Keep clean all the office furniture • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of office cleaning materials. • Other duties as required.

Required Skills and Experience |

Education: • Completion of 10th grade education or 8th grade Experience: • Evidence of some formal training and one year experience with completion of 10th grade education; or • 4 years experience with completion of 8th grade education Language requirements: • Good knowledge of the national language of the duty station |
