The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP works through 136 country offices to provide development advocacy, advice and assistance to 166 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Arab States, Eastern Europe, CIS, Latin America and the Caribbean.The Office of Information Systems and Technology (OIST) implements and maintains corporate IT applications to support UNDP’s operations worldwide. Oracle/PeopleSoft based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications known as ATLAS and Microsoft SharePoint are the key applications being utilized by UNDP today. During summer of 2013, key improvements to these systems are planned. Support is needed for those improvements to accomplish the overall goal to foster better use of corporate systems to drive a transformation of the organization leveraging technology, and further alignment of ICT assets for the future corporate needs. Interns will be instrumental in working alongside team members to get project tasks completed.
UNDP does not pay for internships. The costs associated with the latter must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation etc.
Devoirs et responsabilités
The successful candidate will be part of a team which is involved in several projects, ranging from financial systems, CRM, SharePoint, and other areas. Under this overall framework, the intern is expected to carry out one or more areas from a list of opportunities:- SharePoint: Running and Analyzing statistical data and maintaining data (taxonomy, security groups, etc
- Business Analysis: Analyzing POPP document templates and gathering requirements
- Communications: Formatting support documentation in MS Word
- Marketing: Making the intranet more visible via branding and marketing; Assist with ensuring development is following standard branding
- CRM: Analyzing solutions provided to users and building a clean user support knowledge base
- Project Management: Organize and maintain notes and agenda for management meetings; manage classes; manage the issues list to expedite the closure of open items
- Other tasks as needed

Qualifications et expériences requises
Education:- Enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme in IT is best, but also marketing, web development, communications, or related field preferred. Other degrees will be considered if candidates’ abilities and professional experience are relevant, and the candidate is suited for the responsibilities listed. Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.
- Ability to work with Microsoft SharePoint applications will be necessary; training will be provided
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Basic understanding of database design is an asset
- Understanding of web technologies are valued highly
Language Requirements
- Proficient in written and spoken English. Knowledge of another UN language would be asset.
