Background

Under the guidance of Operations Manager and supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Driver and Messenger provides reliable messenger services.

The Driver and Messenger demonstrates a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Driver and Messenger Services (Main Function):

Provides efficient Driver and Messenger services focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Driving services for UNDP-PFF.;
  • Collection, pickup and delivery of mail and other materials as required from and to the post office, government agencies and other institutions;
  • Packaging/packing of material received for dispatch; labeling, inserting material in envelopes and tracking outgoing mail;
  • Collection of invoices from Vendors, contacting Vendors for any information and documentation to be provided or received;
  • Delivery of recycling items;
  • Vehicle maintenance, collection of vehicle log books, petrol receipts and monthly vehicle check;
  • Support in local shopping /purchases including ordering and pickup of office supply;
  • Other duties as required.
 Other Functions:
  • Welcoming visitors to the office and answering phone calls;
  • Operates photocopying and duplicating machines, binding, and filing;
  • Maintenance of recording information in the system, solution of minor technical problems and reporting telephone service provider for regular maintenance and repair;
  • Assist / support in physical verification of assets;
  • Support in archiving of documents and items;
  • Monitoring of Fire extinguisher maintenance;
  • Assistance in the preparation of cost-recovery bills for the administrative services;
  • Other duties as required.

The key results have an impact on the accurate and timely execution of the office services.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Primary Education is required and secondary education is considered an asset.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience and preferably as Driver and Messenger;
  • Experience in UN/UNDP or International organisation is considered an asset;
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluent English and Native Turkish;
  • Knowledge of Greek is a strong asset.
