Background

UNDP Somalia is currently running its CO intranet on the SharePoint 2010 platform. In addition to using it as a collaboration and document sharing tool, we also run a number of business process automation tools on it based on custom lists, InfoPath forms and workflows. These tools are aimed at enhancing the efficiency with which the business processes are carried out by providing a platform where both the service unit and users can easily track the status of the posted requests.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objectives of the assignment
  • To provide timely monthly technical support of the intranet and resolve any technical issues we may be experiencing with any of the tools or structure of the intranet;
  • To provide additional enhancement to the features of the existing tools as well as the reports generated from the tools as required;
  • To develop an enhanced HR Registry and Recruitment Tool based on Info path forms and workflows;
  • To assist in re-creating the metadata for all our document libraries to conform to the UNDP Corporate standard.

Monitoring and Progress controls

At the beginning of the consultancy we will develop a work plan to capture the 4 deliverables above in more detail and which will be tracked on a monthly basis.

Final product/Deliverables
  • A properly functioning and stable CO Intranet with maximum availability;
  • Optimized Business Process Automation Tools with enhanced reporting capabilities;
  • InfoPath Form Based HR Registry and Recruitment Tool;
  • Document Libraries with UNDP Corporate Metadata.
Review/approval time

Each of the deliverables will be subjected to a User Acceptability Testing to ensure that it has been done to specification and payment will be made based on the milestones achieved on a quarterly basis.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer science or any IT related field.
Years of experience:
  • 7 years of System Development (Computer Programming) experience with 3 of these specifically in SharePoint 2007/2010 Development services, with implementation of projects in the provision of SharePoint development services;
  • Certification in Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or (MCSD) Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer
  • Experience in MYSQL database development, coupled with good knowledge of HTML language, PHP, Dot net and ASP is also desirable;
  • Proven experience with analyzing and documenting complex business processes and workflows and interacting directly with end users;
  • Proven experience with tools and methodologies for requirements gathering and modeling, tracking and project management;
  • Proven experience in creating design documents, specifications and test plans.

Language requirements:

  • Proficiency in both oral and written English language.
Terms of Service:

This is a non-staff contract under the Individual Contractor (IC) modality of hiring of the UNDP. Individuals engaged under an IC serve in their individual capacity and not as representative of a government institutions, corporate body or other authority external to UNDP. The incumbent shall not be considered as staff of UNDP, the UN common system or the government and are therefore not entitled to any diplomatic privileges or any other special status or conditions.
