Background
Under the direct guidance of the Regional Representative, OHCHR Office for the Pacific, the Logistics Clerk/Driver will provide logistics and administration services in the OHCHR Office for the Pacific. This will involve the broad range of services but focusing on specific areas with advice and direction ensuring high quality, accuracy, compliance and consistency of work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Driving Services
- Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and goods;
- Makes regular deliveries parcels, documents etc, between the UN office and other offices and institutions eg, Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions etc;
- Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required;
- Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors;
- Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tries etc, perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;
- Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc;
- Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
Clerical
- Prepares and processes all invoices for payments;
- Makes minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested;
- Collect goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities;
- May make or collect payment for goods;
- Gathers and distributes daily media from internet;
- Backstop for receiving calls and visitors;
- Make arrangements for shipment of personal effects for OHCHR staff, experts and volunteers;
- Provide documented advice on duty free entitlements and customer clearance requirements etc.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Successful completion of secondary school;
- Clean and valid drivers’ license;
- Valid defensive driving certificate.
Experience:
- 3 years relevant experience at the national or international level;
- Driving experience with basic computer knowledge and good communication skills;
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc).
Language:
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
