Background

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) or Deputy Chief Security Adviser(DCSA):

Under the immediate supervision of the respective security professional, the Local Security Administrative Assistant provides and assist in administrative and Financial services for DSS Syria, and monitors the implementation of security policies and procedures and all matters pertaining to the safety and security of personnel, premises and assets in the country or in the area of assignment ensuring high quality, accuracy and consistency of work.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant works in close collaboration with the UNDP and other UN Agencies Operations/Administrative staff, in the Country Office and DSS HQ relevant Regional Desk as required exchanging information and supporting security project implementation.

The incumbent will perform the primary function of Local Security Administrative Assistant by managing the office and by executing a variety of administrative, financial, operational and secretarial support duties.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Bachelor Degree; a degree in Economics, Business Administration, or relevant studies preferable.
Experience:
  • 4 years minimum experience in relevant administrative progressively responsible experience;
  • Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
Language Requirement:
  • Fluency in spoken & written Arabic and English.
Other Skills and Requirements:
  • Solid computers skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);
  • Good knowledge of ATLAS is preferable;
  • Willing to work at night, weekends and holidays;
  • Knowledge of HF and VHF equipment;
  • Good communication, presentation and reporting skills;
  • Having skills to work within a team based environment;
  • Possession of a valid driver license.
