Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Resident Representative, the Communications Analyst is responsible for the design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications, publication and advocacy strategies and plans which are geared to influence the development agenda, promote public and media outreach and mobilize political and financial support for UNDP.

As a member of the Resident Representative and Resident Coordinator Office team, the Communication Analyst is expected to engage and make meaningful contributions to the development of the stakeholders’ involvement and communication approaches

The Communications Analyst works in close collaboration with the Programme and Operations teams in the Country Office, staff of other UN Agencies in Kuwait, Regional Communications Manager and UNDP HQs staff (Communications Office) ensuring successful UNDP communication strategy implementation.

A communications and advocacy strategy tightly linked to program priorities helps position the Country Office in key development areas as a thought leader in ways that boost demand for various service lines and increase overall advocacy and development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of key tasks:

  • Development and initiation of strategies for communications, outreach and advocacy for UNDP Country Office and UN Country Team.
  • Develop the Office SOP on communication and ensure a common understanding among office staff and project staff around its implementation;
  • Development and initiation of the UNDP publications strategy and norms;
  • Update the design and contents of UNDP and UN Country Team web sites;
  • Preparation and dissemination of the newsletter (electronic and print);
  • Develop the report on current CPD/CPAP (achievements and challenges);
  • Assist in the selection of the Communication Analyst and subsequent orientation on UNDP strategy and requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, advocacy, media relations, journalism or related field.

Expereince:

  • 2 years as Communication Expert (Analyst etc.).

Language:

  • Strong proficiency in English and Arabic a plus.
