UNDP is seeking support from an expert in the area of sustainable development to advance its efforts in this area of work. By working with relevant UNDP staff members, external consultants, research support staff and partners, such as UN agencies, governments, private sector, and civil society organizations, the expert will support a number of specific deliverables in line with UNDP’s 2014-2017 Strategic Plan.

Deliverables:

  • A completed 2015 SDC Annual Business Plan and the Integrated Workplan;
  • An analysis of the trends and characteristics of UNDP’s global sustainable development portfolio, including reviewing annual Results Oriented Annual Reports (ROAR) from Country Offices, project-level annual reports, and financial reports to summarize UNDP’s activities by region, areas of focus, funding source or project typology, for use in consolidated reporting and knowledge products and advocacy materials;
  • A draft 2014 Environment Thematic Trust Fund (ETTF) report with input from all Senior Managers;
  • SDC’s information is entered into the Enhanced Results Based Management (ERBM) System and Atlas (working in collaboration with UNDP-GEF, The Montreal Protocol Unit and the BPPS Directorate);
  • SDC’s input to the annual report on the UNDP Strategic Plan, the annual report of the Administrator to the Executive Board;
  • Drafts of briefs and speeches as needed and requested by Senior Management on topics that cut across the SDC’s areas of support following the process and guidance established. This deliverable includes liaising with the various content experts at HQ and the regional levels, as well as developing and editing content as necessary;
  • At least 2 SD newsletters sent out using SDC’s knowledge networks and platforms;
  • A concept note to re-orient and/or develop new KM service delivery models under the SDC aligned with corporate direction;
  • Gathered comments from senior policy and technical advisors on Country Programme Documents;
  • Outreach and advocacy materials produced upon request, in collaboration with relevant team members and the Office of Communications to ensure high quality content according to the established guidelines and
  • Research papers, articles, presentations as commissioned by the SDC Directorate to strengthen the capacity of the office and facilitates subsequent action by the supervisor.

The Expert will work with the Equator Initiative and report to the Sustainable Development Policy Specialist, working closely with Sustainable Development Cluster Directorate, and will collaborate with relevant SDC and BPPS staff members, Regional Bureau/Regional Service Centre focal points and relevant Country Offices.

Capable of working in a highly pressured environment with extreme deadlines, managing many tasks simultaneously; Able to handle a large volume of logistical details, accurately and thoroughly, with great attention to detail.

Projects a positive image and is ready to take on a wide range of tasks to create an enabling environment for the SDC; Focuses on result for the client and responds positively to feedback.
