Background

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, the technical supervision of the NRC Lead Technical Officer (LTO), operational supervision of the Field Programme Officer (FPO) and in close cooperation with the National Project Coordinator (NPC) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy (MAFWE), other national institutions and the project team of international experts, national and local consultants and FAO officers, the Project Assistant will: 

  •  assist the NPC, MAFWE staff, FAO officers, international experts and national consultants in all the activities related to the project, including in preparing and organising meetings, workshops and training courses;
  •  work as a translator/interpreter for international consultants and FAO officers during their missions;
  •  coordinate effective communication, including between the NPC / national consultants / local consultants and FAO;
  •  coordinate the organization of workshops including the choice of locations of the workshops, identification of stakeholders, booking of venues, invitations to stakeholders, collection of materials and presentations needed for workshops, dissemination of materials to stakeholders after the workshops, and identification of follow-up actions;
  •  assist in preparation of materials;
  •  assist in the design and implementation of a public awareness campaign in the two pilot communities;
  •  assist in interviewing stakeholders in the two pilot communities;
  •  perform other administrative work related to the implementation of the project;
  •  reporting on activities when applicable.

Competencies

Candidates will be assessed against the following:

  •  Extent to which following minimum requirements are met.
  •  Ability to plan and organize work and participate in a multi-disciplinary team.
  •  Extent of knowledge of public international organizations’ procedures and administrative rules.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should meet the following:

  •  He/she should have experience in project administration and management, or any other related administrative field. 
  •  Good report writing skills and working knowledge of English are essential.
  •  Knowledge of FAO procedures and administrative rules will be an asset
