Background

UNDP Turkey offers a selected group of outstanding graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP’s work in the field of inclusive democratic governance. It is designed to provide support to Inclusive Democratic Governance Portfolio applied research and policy advisory services and to complement the interns’ practical experience in various issues related to rule of law and human rights; public administration reform; border management and gender equality.  The Programme operates under the rules and regulations of the UNDP Internship Policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Private Sector Programme Manager, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide research, writing and editing support on issues related to relevant areas of private sector in development, corporate social responsibility and inclusive business;
  • Provide administrative support on an as-needed basis;
  • Preparing information notes, case stories and other communication notes.

Other relevant tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

  • Ability to multi-task, to work flexibly and meet tight deadlines;
  • Attention to details and proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimum supervision;
  • Networking skills to engage with key internal and external partners;
  • Excellent writing skills, as well as strong analytical aptitude and strong communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the UN/UNDP and commitment to UN mission and UNDP mandate;
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level degree programme (in Business Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, International Relations and Social Sciences) as a full-time student in a related field.

Experience:

  • Theoretical and practical understanding of democratic governance;
  • Experience in knowledge management e.g. editing of websites.

Language:

  • Fluent in English with excellent reading and writing skills;
  • Fluency in Turkish and knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Conditions of Service:

UNDP internships are non-paid and travel expenses are not covered.

Available for working in the UNDP for a period of 3-6 months. (Applicants available for six months are preferred. Applicants must state their availability).
