Background

The UNDSS in Sierra Leone is responsible for processing the Identification Cards of staff, project personnel and Individual Contractors, including personnel on surge deployment, for the UN Common System in the country.

With strict security regulations, the ID Cards are processed by the UNDSS, upon the request and approval of the designated authorities of the various UN agencies, entities, funds and programmes in the UN Common system in Sierra Leone.

This position is funded by the UN country team and not from UNDSS core budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officer, the Pass & ID Assistant responsible for the Unit, will perform the following duties:

  • Is to design and produce ID cards and to update the database;
  • Issue all categories of ID cards in accordance with the established mission policy;
  • Complete tasks without delay and observe deadlines;
  • Ensure that the equipment to produce ID cards is functioning and initiate immediately necessary repairs or maintenance;
  • Collate, compile a correct staff list details with their eligible dependants for all the UN agencies and submit to the CSA through the FSCO weekly.
  • Collate, compile and forward the UN staff count for all the UN Agencies operating in Sierra Leone as at when due as required by the office;
  • Ensure cleanliness of the office and maintain office security at all times;
  • Request office supplies as and when required;
  • Perform other duties as may assigned by the CSA, FSCO or the DSA

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • High school or equivalent education supplemented by technical knowledge in ID Card production and designing.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of progresively responsible work experience in a related field.
  • Experience within the UN system in the field of security and administrative services are an advantage;
  • Experience with Pass & ID software, MS Excel and MS Word;
  • Experience in typing correspondence in English.

Language Requirement:

  • Fluency in English is required.
