Background

This Program supports the National Planning Commission and under its aegis the Central Bureau of Statistics to strengthen their capacity to promote pro-poor and evidence-based planning and monitoring and evaluation based on a) improved generation of data and b) analysis of evidence of development issues and trends in Nepal.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the National Program Director, the Research Assistant  works under the direct supervision of the Project Officer. The Research Assistant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Officer in planning, documentation and report writing;
  • Provide support to the Project Officer and other specialists in drafting concept notes, terms of reference and other relevant documents;
  • Assist project team in doing background research, e.g., data collection and analysis;
  • Provide logistical support in training, workshop, planning and dissemination meetings;
  • Assist in administrative and finance matters to maintain project inventory of  goods and equipment;
  • Perform any other duty assigned by programme management.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Completeion of Intermediate level.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in development research and planning;
  • Understanding of Nepal’s socio economic development;
  • Good computer skills especially MS Word, Excel, Power Point.

Language:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Nepali and English languages is required.
