Background

UNDP Ethiopia on behalf of all UN agencies in Ethiopia is running an ITB to establish Long term Agreement (LTA) on Hotels Accommodations, Conferences and other Hotel services. To this end, it has floated a bid inviting all hotels in Ethiopia to participate in submitting their technical and financial proposals based on the standard Hotel ITB. Moreover, UNDP Ethiopia has organized a half day briefing to all hotels in Ethiopia and successfully briefed all the necessary requirements to participate in the bid and entertain and respond their inquiry properly. On top of that the entrusted Technical Panel which is accountable to the Procurement Working Group (PWG) of all UN Agencies in Ethiopia has undertaken a preliminary physical inspections of fifty (50) hotels and prequalified around 40 to 45 hotels for subsequent three level (i.e., High, Medium and Low) categorization.   

Duties and Responsibilities

The main objective of this professional service is to classify pre-qualified hotels in Addis to three major categories: High, Medium and Low to cater the objectives of Hotel ITB. More specifically, the objectives of the captioned consultancy services are:

  • To come up with an agreed standard hotel rating criteria for classification of hotels;
  • To properly classify there pre-qualified hotels into three major classifications: High, Medium and Low;
  • Produce a Report on classifications of the selected hotel.

Competencies

Functional Competencies:

  • Sound Knowledge of the Hotel experiences in Ethiopia;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in English.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • The candidate need to possess a minimum of BA Degree in Hotel Management (preferable), Tourism Management, Marketing, Economics, and other related disciples. Master degree is a plus.

 Experiences:

  • The candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of experiences on hotel management, hotel administrations (preferably in renowned hotels) and/or hotel Institutes;
  • Practical experience in hotel management, hotel organization and hotel administrations;
  • Experience in hotel organization, hotel facilitations, hotel grading.

 Language:

  • Fluent in English.
