Background

UNDP, with funds from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is assisting Georgia to establish a modern system of vocational education and training in the area of agriculture and support extension services across the country. The Vocational Education and Training System will concentrate more on skills for practical farming and processing, while the Extension Service in Agriculture is moving towards a demand driven approach.

The project contributes to the development of high quality education and retraining in the area of agriculture, establishment of the extension services for farmers and to the improvement of livelihoods of the rural population in Georgia.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager the incubent will provide qualified support in all business operations of the project and will assist the project team with translation and interpretation.

Provision of support to project business operations:

  • Support to all kind of project business operations including organizing meetings, communication with stakeholders and  contractors;
  • Support the management of working groups, field trips and study tours;
  • Assistance to the international project manager and international project consultants.

Project document management

  • Supporting the project team in elaboration of official project communication and write ups (reports, tender documents, media communication, minutes of meetings);
  • Support in the project team in elaborating presentations in English and Georgian language;
  • Management of electronic project library.

Translation and Interpretation

  • translation of project documents from English to Georgian and vice-versa;
  • interpretation during workshops, seminar, meetings, missions to stakeholders (as well in the country side).

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s  degree in business administration or  social sciences.

Experience: 

  • At least 5 years working experience in business operations support in public, not for profit or private sector;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of translation and interpretation from Georgian to English and vice versa;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web based management systems;
  • Working experience in vocational education and/or agriculture will be an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Georgian and English;
  • German would be an asset.
