Background

ICT Team of UNDP Country Office in Kazakhstan is managing ICT support for tenants of both UN Common Premises in Astana. Also UNDP has number of projects that are located outside of the Common Premises building and which require ICT support as well. ICT Team consists of ICT Associate and ICT Assistant. Under direct supervision of the UNDP ICT Associate the ICT Assistant is to provide help desk technically and substantial support in maintaining LAN system, PABX telephone station maintenance.
The ICT Assistant provides ICT and administrative support services to the ICT unit, provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The ICT Specialist promotes a client-oriented approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities for ICT Specialist position:

  • Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the CO technology environment.
  • Support to the use of Atlas (UNDP’s implementation of ERP) functionality for improved business results and improved client services.
  • Provision of inputs to the CO administrative business processes mapping and implementation of the internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provision of inputs to preparation of results-oriented work plans.
  • Provide helpdesk support to the tenants of UN Common Premises and agencies/projects outside
  • Advise on hardware and software requirements
  • Provide minor repairs/ fixes of hardware
  • Maintain office telecommunication equipment assist in programming if required
  • Perform simple LAN Administration tasks as requested
  • Assist in the process of procurement of computer and telecommunication equipment
  • Perform administration of e-mail accounts and e-mail groups
  • Effective functioning of the CO hardware and software packages
  • Carry out other tasks as required

The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency of the Country Office including improved business results and client services. Forward-looking ICT management has an impact on the organization of office management, knowledge sharing, and information provision.

Required Skills and Experience

Education: 
University degree in information technologies or relevant technical science, ability to operate and maintain network, computer, telecommunication and other office equipment. Knowledge of computer hardware, TCP/IP networks and peripheral equipment, working knowledge of MS Windows 2003-2012 Sever, MS Windows XP-8.1 operation systems, MS Office 2007-2013 and Office 365, E-mail technology protocols  Knowledge of MS Active Directory would be desirable. Knowledge of office printing/copying equipment

Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience.

Language Requirements: Good knowledge of Russian, Kazakh and English.
