Background

The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development Istanbul (IICPSD) offers a selected group of outstanding graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to IICPSD's work as a center of excellence for private sector in development and inclusive markets. It is designed to provide support to IICPSD’s applied research and policy advisory services and to complement the interns’ practical experience in various issues related to inclusive business, inclusive finance, private sector engagement, partnership building, corporate social responsibility, and international development. The Programme operates under the rules and regulations of the UNDP Internship Policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of IICPSD and the Technical Specialist, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide research, writing and editing support on issues related to developing inclusive markets and business impact in achieving the MDGs;
  • Support private sector opportunity mapping and outreach efforts;
  • Update websites, Content Management System database;
  • Provide administrative support on an as-needed basis;
  • Other relevant tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

  • Excellent writing skills, as well as strong analytical aptitude and strong communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the UN/UNDP and commitment to UN mission and UNDP mandate;
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level degree programme as a full-time student in a related field.

Experience:

  • Theoretical and practical understanding of the role of private sector in development;
  • Experience in knowledge management e.g. editing of websites and updating of workspaces is an asset.

Language:

  • Fluent in English with excellent reading and writing skills;
  • Fluency in Turkish and knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage;

Conditions of Service:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship and travel expenses are not covered;
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship;
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
  • Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.

Available for working in the IICPSD for a period of 3-6 months. (Applicants available for six months are preferred. Applicants must state their availability).
