Background

The Resource Mobilization Unit in UN WOMEN MCO, builds, fosters and maintains partner and donor relations and implements the Resource Mobilization Strategy.  It promotes client-orientation and provides senior management and programme teams with reliable information and strategic advice on new partnership opportunities. The unit also supports and facilitates strategic programme planning, management, oversight and implementation processes in the MCO as directed by senior management and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative. The Resource Mobilization Unit develops proposals to streamline programme-related business processes and supports the effective and efficient delivery of programme resources through effective resource planning, management, monitoring and implementation support. It acts as a repository of programme and implementation related corporate standards and policies and provides the senior management with programme oversight information and support. The Resource Mobilization unit plays a key role in programme oversight and quality assurance.

 

The Resource Mobilization Assistant will support the overall effort of the unit to build partnerships and mobilize appropriate and sustainable resource base for programs on UN Women in the MCO (especially focusing on Bhutan, India, Maldives and Sri Lanka).  The Resource Mobilization Assistant will support the implementation of the existing resource mobilization strategy, development of new tools and procedures, and development of UN Women’s strategic partnerships with bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors as well as the private sector.

 

New Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region is a large and bustling metropolis of some 14 million people undergoing rapid changes. The capital city is an administrative, cultural and commercial center with modern amenities and well connected by air. It is a safe place with large expatriate community drawn from embassies, UN agencies, MNCs and foreign businesses. It has short moderate winter and long hot summer.

 

A One year contract; monthly volunteer living allowance (VLA) intended to cover housing, basic needs and utilities, equivalent to INR 39,584; settling-in-grant (if applicable); life, health, and permanent disability insurance; return fares (if applicable); resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the implementation of MCO strategies related to RM and partnerships building and builds a sustainable resource base for the organization;

Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing;

Support the Resource Mobilization Lead in Coordinating public relations for UN WOMEN.

 

I. Supports the implementation of MCO strategies related to RM and partnerships building, focusing on achievement of the following results:

 

Support the external and internal analysis for assessing opportunities of resource mobilization from institutional as well as private sector donors. 

Scanning of opportunities in the region based on donor-specific intelligence and the competitive landscape; identification where UN Women’s competency, interests and strengths overlap with the donor’s / client’s needs. 

Support the development and implementation of a donor intelligence strategy, RM strategy, Client Relationship Management strategy under the supervision of direct supervisor.

Support the analysis of key development policies currently being discussed and implemented in the region and key donors willing to support the same. 

Support the negotiation, drafting and revision of agreements with donors. Monitoring of overall implementation of agreements.

Support the development and implementation of a donor intelligence strategy (partners, needs and priorities, perception of UN WOMEN by its current and potential future partners, and projection of UN Women’s added value and potential role). 

Support the development of specific donor fund-raising strategies and approaches.  

Support the development of a Competitive Landscape Analysis of partners, their priorities and characterization of their relationships/partnerships. 

Support the process of donor reporting for all projects in coordination with program teams. 

 

II. Support the Resource Mobilization Lead in knowledge building and knowledge sharing as required by the organization, focusing on the following results:

 

Identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned directly linked to resource mobilization and partnership-building activities.

Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Support and organize training/briefing for the CO staff on resource mobilization issues.

 

III. Coordinate Public Relations for UN WOMEN :  

 

Support the drafting and development of tailor made materials, publications, brochures to support promotional activities.

Support the coordination of the HeforShe campaign

 

Impact of Results

 

The key results of the post are supporting the Resource Mobilisation lead in formulation of forward-looking strategies and policies for the MCO and partnerships building, identification of opportunities for building partnerships and their implementation.

 

Competencies

Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems and advanced programs for data analysis. 

 

Anchor Excellent verbal and written skills in English. Knowledge of Hindi would be an asset.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, International Development, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences or related field.

 

Experience

2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level. Experience in research, policy-level analysis, design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects highly desirable
