Background
The United Nations Development Programme encourages the employees to develop their skills in order to improve their professional development within the organization. Hence, UNDP offers courses in the Language Management System (LMS) and courses in-house.
Under the guidance and supervision of the HR and Learning Manager, the language teacher will be responsible to provide English language course for UN employees, attending all different levels.
Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and provide English language courses at different levels (from beginners to proficiency):
- Execute the initial assessment (written and oral) to evaluate each staff level;
- Provide 2 classes per week of one hour each, per group;
- Offer convenient and flexible classes schedules to attend the staff/ each group needs during working days / office hours;
- Correct exercises, homework and other texts of the students;
- Run a midterm and final evaluation (written and oral test) at each level/course;
- Administrate, control and respond about issues regarding the attendance of students / staff;
- Attend group sizes, as long as they have a minimum of 4 students and desirably a maximum of 10 students;
- Deliver the services at the UN House in Brasilia.
Prepare and provide specialized courses
As per request, designing teaching materials and providing short term courses such as Public presentation in English, Writing reports in English, Business negotiation, etc.
Support to HR
Provide UNDP HR Unit: the course contents, assessment results, feedback progress and key documents such as the learners’ needs analysis and the level test results.
Provide UNDP HR Unit progress reports
Give to HR the monthly attendance list of each group;
Report to HR any learners success or failure cases, and how it’s been addressed with the student (individual learning action plans).
The key results have an impact on the improvement of the language skills of staff in English and in their professional performance to meet the needs of the organization in the present and in the future.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
University Degree in languages, language teaching, linguistics or related field.
Advanced degree in languages is desirable.
Experience:
At least 4 years of experience in language teaching in the last 8 years is required.
Experience teaching in all levels, specialized courses and developing tests.
Experience in teaching adults in professional environment.
Experience working in a multicultural environment is desirable.
Language Requirements: Fluent in English and Portuguese is required.
