The UN Women Mozambique Country Office is looking for a dynamic intern to work directly under the supervision of the Administrative Associate, in support of procurement activities for a duration of six months. The internship will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to gain valuable experience and learn skills such as planning, time management, procurement processes, document and knowledge management, managing interpersonal relations, networking, and developing communications skills suitable for work in an International organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Administrative Associate, the intern will:

  • Be given an opportunity to gain knowledge on established Procurement principles and practices of UN Women;
  • Undertake tasks related to procurement for the UN Women Country Office;
  • Support the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the 2015 Procurement Plans, monitor progress and make suggestions for overcoming bottlenecks;
  • Assist with the preparation of documents and implementation of the document/file management system;
  • Provide efficient and effective planning and administrative support for staff travels, meetings and events of the Country Office;
  • Assist in the recording of all steps to ensure full transparency and accountability;
  • Support in the management of vendor performance;
  • Assist in the registration of new vendors;
  • Conduct research on best practices and potential solutions to identified issues;
  • Support in updating the rosters of suppliers and consultant;
  • Support in preparation of the 2016 procurement plans for the office and Projects and their implementation monitoring.

Any other related activities.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Must be enrolled in a degree programme (Masters or equivalent) in a graduate school at the time of application and during the internship.

Experience:

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) will be an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese.

UN-Women Internship Conditions:

  • UN WOMEN will not pay for the internship; all the expenses connected with it will be borne by the intern;
  • UN WOMEN accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship; The Intern must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan;
  • The Intern will not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UN WOMEN during the period of my internship or for the six months immediately following the expiration date thereof;
  • The Intern will be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
