Background

UN Joint Programme “Improving the welfare and quality of life in the Kyzylorda region through innovative approaches to delivering economic, social and environmental services to the local population, including those most vulnerable” is supported by UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNESCO, WHO, UN Women and UNHCR and co-funded by the Government of Kazakhstan acting by Ministry of national economy and Administration of Kyzylorda region.
The Joint Programme (JP) purpose is to improve the quality of life of the Kyzylorda region by diversified economic growth and increase services access.
UNDP according to Kyzylorda Joint Programme will work in the following areas that each of this is a project component:
1. Building capacity of local authorities on improving the quality of public services with a focus on most vulnerable groups, employment incentives and development of local authorities in rural areas.
2. Building capacity of local authorities on planning diversified and balanced economic growth in the region and improves the business skills of rural population.
3. Enhancement of local authorities and communities on applying of sustainable environmental practices in response to existing environmental problems as well as climate change, natural and technical disaster.
4. Development of effective corporate volunteerism module for further sustainable implementation by local corporations and other interested parties. 
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Programme Analyst and direct supervision of Project Manager, the UN Volunteer will be providing overall assistance and project support to implementation of Corporate Volunteerism tasks of the project, including:
1. Act as the focal point for Corporate Volunteerism development for integrating public-private partnership in the context of the JP;
2. Identifying and coordinating cooperation among partners, trainers and consultants for better implementation and achieving project objectives; promote, facilitate, and/or stakeholder gatherings focussing on CSR and Corporate Volunteerism development related issues;
3. Work with business corporations, NGOs, grass roots organizations, academia and the broader civil society organizations on demonstrating best practices related to CSR and Corporate Volunteerism development to strengthen the constituency to facilitate national discussions on the CSR and volunteerism policies;
4. Designing survey (needs assessment among volunteers receiving communities/organizations, pre- and post- service survey for volunteers), analysis of the survey results and application of identified best approaches and methods in practice;
5. Coordinate and facilitate volunteers work (selection, survey, TOR, post-service interview, volunteer supporting activities, trainings, events);
6. Identify and train potential volunteers among corporate workers and interested parties;
7. Identify volunteer receiving local communities/organizations and coordinate work between community/organization and volunteer (pre-volunteer service trainings, meetings, identification of scope of work for volunteers, volunteer’s work plan, consultations, post-volunteer work assessment);
8. Design and conduct various CSR and volunteerism development activities (workshops, trainings, volunteer debrief groups, roundtables, etc.)
9. Design and implement public outreach campaign promoting CSR and Corporate Volunteerism and the project goals;
10. Developing network supporting in institutionalization corporate volunteerism among interested parties on rayon and oblast levels (drafting employment policies, trainings, facilitation and coordination);
11. Support to the preparation of project progress reports;
12. Support to the Joint Programme’s Facebook page with timely upload of relevant information prepared in cooperation with the Project Manager;
13. Organizing the regional part of Social Good Summit in Kyzylorda oblast.


Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Economic or Social Sciences and at least 3-year working experience in development and project management;
• Experience of work in the projects in close cooperation with international organizations and coordination of multi-partners activities;
• Strong experience in volunteerism development projects and good understanding of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach;
• Experience in media and outreach activities, as well as in designing/conducting training programs, surveys and roundtables;
• Experience in designing volunteer projects, fundraising activities and writing reports;
• Personal sensitivity and commitment to the values and principles of volunteerism;
• Excellent negotiation, planning and team work skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Fluency in English and Russian languages, knowledge of Kazakh is advantage;
• Advanced skills on MS Office and office equipment.
