Background

Under the direct supervision of Country Programme Gender Coordinator and in close liaison with the Dimensions’ Chiefs and projects in order to support Programme Management Unit to institutionalize gender mainstreaming practices, realize and monitor gender activities, and is responsible for implementation of day-to-day tasks assigned within UNDP Gender Mainstreaming Strategy and the programmes/projects’ objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in engendering of the Dimensions’ activities throughout the program cycle (planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the programmes);
  • Provides support in developing the Joint Gender Mainstreaming Work Plans in cooperation with the Dimensions’ Chiefs;
  • Follow up with incorporation of the activities of the Joint Gender Work Plan into Programmes/Projects Annual Work Plans;
  • Monitor and ensure timely and proper implementation of the gender – specific activities within the Joint Gender Mainstreaming Work Plans;
  • Support the Country Programme Gender Coordinator, Dimensions’ Chiefs and project coordinators/managers in annual reporting against developed gender indicators to Country Office, UNDP Regional center and Headquarter;
  • Support programmed staff in development of the gender mainstreaming capacity at different levels: from basic knowledge till advanced expertise in specific thematic areas;
  • Provide support to Country Programme Gender Coordinator and Communication Unit in promoting Country Office gender mainstreaming activities in informational materials, website, through corporative networks (Teamwork, GenderNet) and social media;
  • Provide support to Country Programme Gender Coordinator in handling overall communication with external Government and civil society related to the gender mainstreaming matters;
  • Provide support to Country Programme Gender Coordinator in implementation of Gender Project AWP, implementation of UNDP PBF “Women as peaceful voters, women as candidates” project and country/regional gender initiatives;
  • Provide support to Country Programme Gender Coordinator in realizing of UNDP’s contribution to Gender Thematic Group Annual Working Plan and UNCT Gender Mainstreaming Strategy;
  • Keep a filing record system of Gender Mainstreaming programmes matters;
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree.

Experience:

  • 4 years of programmatic work experience in the area of public administration, human development, gender equality or other related field at national or international level;
  • Experience in conducting gender analysis, trainings or working with women’s NGOs is an asset;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).

Language:

  • Fluency in English and Russian;
  • Knowledge of Kyrgyz is an asset.
