Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor in Agriculture, Sustainability, or other relevant discipline. A bachelor in law would be also possible if there is sufficient focus on environmental and agricultural issues.
  • Higher qualification(s) welcome but not essential.

Experiences:

  • A minimum of 10 (PhD), 15 (Master) or 20 (Bachelor) years of professional experience in conservation and/or environmental policy or related area, with experience in Indonesian Palm Oil sector a strong advantage.
  • Experience contributing towards contemporary academic debate surrounding sustainable commodity production.
  • At least five contributions towards contemporary peer reviewed journal articles on sustainable palm oil would be a strong advantage. The applicant will be solicited to submit some samples accordingly.
  • Expertise in communications, preferably experience communicating with high level officials and/or large national/international organizations over highly sensitive issues.
  • Experience working with Government and in interdepartmental procedures preferred, especially the ability to understand political/sensitive issues and act accordingly.
  • Broad experience and understanding of smallholder and/or community rights.
