Duties and Responsibilities

The Innovation Intern, under the guidance and direct supervision of the Associate Communications and Innovation Officer, will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Assist in conducting research on innovative thinking and practice, compiling background materials, statistical data and briefing notes for innovation and media events;
  2. Assist in the preparation of innovations, communications and public-private partnerships outreach materials (i.e. PowerPoint presentations, brochures, etc.), as needed;
  3. Assist in organizing activities for the innovation group, such as training sessions, seminars, etc.;
  4. Assist in promoting innovative practice within UNDP China;
  5. Assist in the translation of media advisories, press releases, publications, and correspondences;
  6. Assist in organizing media events such as press briefings/conferences/summits, etc.
  7. Assist  in updating and organizing event photos, as well as editing and transcribing Flipcam stories;
  8. Help maintain and update the media partners database and Public-Private Partnerships database;
  9. Assist in post-event media coverage monitoring by requesting hard copies from media outlets and conducting online searches and by helping to create and maintain a media coverage monitoring file;
  10. Assist in preparing the daily newsletter and in organizing newspapers and magazines in the resource center;
  11. Join any ad hoc task forces that require his/her support as requested.

  6. Full proficiency in English and Chinese
  7. Good IT competency
  8. Ability to work with Microsoft Office software
  9. Proactive, organized and self-motivated.

Required Skills and Experience

Graduate students with formal training in relevant fields; preferably journalism/communication, technology, IT, public/business administration, international development, or other related fields. Previous assignment in a similar position would be desirable.
