The consultant will work under the direct supervision of Communications Analyst, UN Women MCO and Programme Specialist, WEE, UN Women MCO.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will work under the direct supervision of Communications Analyst, UN Women MCO and Programme Specialist, WEE, UN Women MCO who will be responsible for the quality assurance of the deliverables. The consultant will also work with UN Women India MCO programme staff to perform the following tasks:

  • Edit, revise and rewrite content in Hindi that has been translated from English. Must ensure it is produced in high quality, reader-friendly and timely. The final edited document must be aligned with UN Women’s established standards and formats, and in compliance with UN Women India MCO’s clearance and routing process;
  • Prepare specific report-related feedback to relevant UN Women offices for improvements of quality;
  • Translate documents from English to Hindi.

Deliverables of the assignment :

  • Copyedited documents for the Women’s Economic Empowerment Unit;
  • Copyedited and translated documents (English to Hindi) for the Communications Unit.

Schedule of payments :

  • 25 December 2015: 50% of contract value: Upon submission of copyedited documents for the Women’s Economic Empowerment Unit;
  • 15 January 2016: 50% of contract value: Upon submission of copyedited and translated documents for the Communications Unit.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Hindi, English, Social Sciences, International Development, Communications or any other relevant field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of high-level experience in writing, editing, reporting, and communicating complex programmatic information in reader-friendly formats and style;
  • Demonstrated abilities and track record writing high quality Hindi-language content;
  • Excellent understanding of and experience with gender-sensitive and results-based management and reporting;
  • Understanding of international development, resource mobilization, and the UN context is an asset;
  • Must be capable of effectively using MS Word and Excel.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent written language skills in Hindi and English.
