Background
UN-Habitat has reopened recently an office in Angola, after closing its last country programme in 1998. Presently, UN-Habitat is funded by MINUHA to support the Government of Angola on the elaboration of a National Urban and Territorial Policy (PNOTU), aiming at creating an adequate institutional and legal framework and a national socio-economic and spatial strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Human Settlements Officer [HSO] based in Luanda, the Programme Officer will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist the HSO in the design, development and delivery of UN-Habitat programmes in Angola;
- Assist the HSO in administrative and logistic issues related to UN-Habitat’s office;
- Coordinate the team of national interns in the framework of UN-Habitat Internship Programme;
- Assist in the translation of instruments and documents from English to Portuguese;
- Be the Office-in-Charge in the absence of the HSO;
- Report to the HSO.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor degree related to Habitat issues, preferably in Architecture, Urban Planning, Geography, Social Sciences and Environmental issues.
Experience:
- 2 years experience in coordinating project teams;
- Familiarity with one or more Design softwares (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D studios, etc.);
- Familiarity with one or more Image Edition softwares (Photoshop, Corel Draw, InDesign, etc.);
- Familiarity with MS Word , PowerPoint and Excel, Internet, Email;
- Familiarity with ArcGIS or similar is an asset;
- Experience with office management is an asset.
Language:
- Good Portuguese and English proficiency skills.
