Background
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the (Chief) Security Adviser (CSA) or the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO)/ or Designated Supervisor by (CSA):
Under the immediate supervision of the respective security professional, the LSA provides assistance in preparing security evaluation reports, Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS), Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards (MORSS) and contingency plans, and monitors the implementation of security policies and procedures and all matters pertaining to the safety and security of personnel, premises and assets in the country or in the area of assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaises and coordinates, as appropriate, with the host government security organizations and/or personnel, including national and local provincial authorities, military, and police officers, emergency services as well as non-governmental organizations (I/NGOs);
- Assists in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country;
- Provide assistance in preparing security evaluation reports and ensures adequate gathering and verification of security related information that may be required for a proper analysis of the security situation by the Supervisor;
- Assists in maintaining/implementation of the Security Plan, including updating staff lists;
- Supports the supervisor with the assessment of Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), office safety, and security preparedness for UN premises at the duty station;
- Assists in ensuring residential (Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards –MORSS);
- Assists in reporting/updating security incidents affecting UN staff, offices and assets;
- Organizes and delivers training courses on security awareness and preparedness;
- Assists in assessing and updating country /area Security Level System;
- Provides support in organizing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness, and providing security orientation to newly assigned staff members;
- Assist FSCO / CSA for (A)SMT meetings and record maintaining;
- Provides general administrative assistance to the supervisor;
- Performs other security-related tasks assigned by the CSA or Supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- High School certificate. Higher qualification is desirable.
Experience:
- Four years of experience in staff security, or telecommunication, IT context, administrative/finance field, Humanitarian field, or any related fields of work. Prior experience with international organizations is desirable.
Computer Requirements:
- Must be computer literate and fully conversant as a user of the Microsoft Office and internet/emailing system. ICDL certificate is preferable.
Language:
- Fluency in spoken & written Arabic and English.
Other Skills and Requirements:
- Good communication, presentation and reporting skills;
- Experience in operating emergency communication equipment;
- Having skills to work within a team based environment;
- Possession of a valid driver license.
