UN Women is seeking a consultant to support the Response, Recovery & Resilience Unit to work in close collaboration with the operations, programme and project’s staff in the Country Office, Regional Office and UN Women HQs as required.

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Recovery Specialist, the PSS promotes a client oriented approach consistent with UN Women Policies and procedures to supports the effective implementation and monitoring of projects and programmes and provides support to the members of the Programme Team in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Response, Recovery & Resilience Specialist, the PSS will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Support in the formulation of Programme Strategies;
  • Programme Management Support;
  • Support to Resource Mobilization.

Scope of Work and deliverables

Contribute to programme development and identification of needs within UN Women beneficiaries and stakeholders:

  • Support the Programme Team in the implementation of the control mechanisms for development projects through monitoring of budget preparation and modifications;
  • Use ERP systems to process project budgets and monitor deliverables/expenses;
  • Support the Programme Team in the financial management of Programmes;
  • Provide guidance to executing agencies on routine implementation of projects, tracking use of financial resources;
  • Provide necessary information for the audit of programme/projects and support implementation of audit recommendations;
  • Organize, compile and process information from donors, Regional Office, and programme team, as inputs to various databases and documents;
  • Support the Programme Team in the tracking and reporting on mobilized resources;
  • Review of Financial and Narrative Projects Reports;
  • Prepare cost-sharing, and trust fund agreements, follow up on contributions within the CO resource mobilization efforts;
  • Assist in the preparation of cost-recovery bills in ERP system by elaboration and implementation of the income tracking system and follow up on cost-recovery;
  • Support synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices related to programme management;
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Law, Political Sciences, Engineering, and any other related Social Sciences is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience preferably working for international organizations and NGOs in the area of gender and human development;
  • Proven experience drafting reports, engaging with stakeholders, and working with diverse partners;
  • Experience in working in a computer environment using multiple office software packages.

Language:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement, spoken Arabic is a strong asset.

Fees and Schedule of Payments:

  • The position will be remunerated based on an “all inclusive” monthly payment (week-ends and public holidays are not included). The successful candidate will receive his/her payment at the end of every month based on a time sheet duly approved by the UN Women Country Representative.
