Background

Since 2005, the annual UN-EU Partnership Report is the flagship publication of the UN Team in Brussels which captures the achievements of the UN’s humanitarian and development work with the EU institutions around the world.

The 2014/2015 Partnership Report will focus on the most important themes and accomplishments during these two years and will be launched in the framework of the outcome of the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the European Year for Development 2015 in collaboration with the EU institutions, tentatively by early 2016. Based on the report, the office might produce a short version which summarizes the key results and facts.

Under the supervision and overall guidance of the UNDP Communications Specialist and in close collaboration with the UN Agencies based in Brussels, the consultancy entails the design of the printed version of the Partnership Report 2014-2015.

This consultancy is home-based.

Timeframe and deliverables:

The consultant will work for 10 working days spread out from May 2016 through August 2016.

Payments will be linked to deliverables as per the preliminary schedule below:

  • 30% upon submission of the first draft by June 2016
  • 70% upon submission of the final report by August 2016

Cumulative analysis

When using this weighted scoring method, the award of the contract should be made to the individual consultant whose offer has been evaluated and determined as:

Responsive/compliant/acceptable, and having received the highest score out of a pre-determined set of weighted technical and financial criteria specific to the solicitation.

* Technical Criteria weight: 70%

* Financial Criteria weight: 30%

Only candidates obtaining a minimum of 70 points would be considered for the Financial Evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of the assignment is to develop the graphic design of the printed version of the UN-EU partnership report 2014-2015.

Tasks and outputs:

The graphic designer will prepare the final design of the report. He or she will provide the following:

  • Propose a design for the printed version of the report, both for long version (10-12 word pages) and short one ( 2-3 pages)
  • Prepare the graphic design of the printed version of the UN-EU Partnership report.
  • Work closely with the consultant writer on the layout of the report.

Timing, duration and location:

The graphic design of the printed version of the report will be conducted over a total of 10 working days, during the months of January-February 2016. 

Reporting lines and administrative support:

The graphic designer will report to UNDP Communications Specialist. 

Outputs:

  • Final layout of the long and short versions of the 2014/2015 Partnership Report;
  • Submit the layout in formats for printing and website.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing reports and other communications materials.
  • Language requirements: English
