About the HeForShe Campaign

Created by UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, the HeForShe solidarity movement for gender equality provides a systematic approach and targeted platform on which men and boys can engage and become change agents towards the achievement of gender equality. Achieving gender equality in our lifetimes requires an innovative, inclusive approach that both recognizes men and boys as partners for women’s rights, and acknowledges the ways in which they also benefit from this equality. HeForShe invites men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners, crafting and implementing a shared vision of gender equality that will benefit all of humanity.

The Copy/Content Writer will be responsible for developing and executing goal-oriented communication strategies based on audience research, message framework, and core content to increase brand awareness. The Copy/Content will be an extremely talented writer with a knack for crafting compelling content while balancing style and substance.  This is the ideal position for a hardworking, attentive, and outgoing individual looking to work in a collaborative and collegial workplace learning from, with, and among smart, interesting and fun professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develops engaging and compelling content for a variety of audiences in support of differing objectives;
  • Leverages knowledge of marketing communications strategy across all channels including print, web, social media, mobile, and video;
  • Assists in the development of content strategy;
  • Researches, writes, edits, and publishes materials including speeches for digital platforms that are captivating and SEO friendly;
  • Uses working knowledge of SEO and tactics to improve website traffic generation;
  • Creates digital and print marketing tools including dynamic emails, websites, blog posts, images, and videos that enhance marketing efforts;
  • Enforces brand tone and voice guidelines for all digital content and copy;
  • Guarantees the quality of site, email, and digital content to ensure copy, images, hyperlinks, and other assets meet branding  guidelines and are fully functional;
  • Assumes accountability for the accuracy and integrity of content;
  • Immediate key deliverableS: HeForShe annual progress report and HeForShe IMPACT 10X10X10 parity report and equality stories from around the world to be displayed in the newsroom: http://www.heforshe.org/en/newsroom

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Post-graduate degree in marketing, communications, journalism with minimum 5 years solid experience as Copy/Content writer

Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and follow through;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and prioritize efforts;
  • Strong interest in current media and social media trends;
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment;
  • Open to growing as part of a team – ability to take direction and be taught;
  • Knowledge of current cultural and technology trends.

Language:

  •     Fluency in oral and demonstrated superior writing skills in English is required.
  •     Proficiency in another UN working language is desirable.
