All human development and human rights issues have gender dimensions. UN Women focuses on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and that can unlock progress across the board. Five focus areas include violence against women, economic empowerment, leadership and participation, peace and security and national planning and budgeting

UN Women MCO based in New Delhi, India, covers four countries of the region, i.e., Bhutan, India, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Under the direct guidance of the HR Associate and the overall supervision of the Operations Manager, the consultant provides support to HR related services to UNWOMEN MCO ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The consultant promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.

The consultant is expected to work in close collaboration with the Management and Business Development, Programme, Operations teams and projects’ staff in the MCO staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support to the ongoing recruitment processes for various positions :

  • Support in job postings;
  • Support in long listing and short listing of applications for various positions;
  • Support in preparation of interview and written test documents;
  • Support in preparation of interview reports;
  • Support in ensuring all recruitment documents are up to date for signatures. 

Provide support in absence management.

Provide support in staff learning and development.

Provide support in efficient operations of the HR Unit.

Any other day to day functions delegated by the supervisor.

Deliverables:

  • Timely recruitment & issuance of contracts;
  • Updated staff data base;
  • Accurate absence management;
  • HR information and reports.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in HR Management or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Admin. Support and/or HR Management.
  • Working knowledge and use of computers and its programmes / applications. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spread sheet and database packages.

Language:

  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of any other Indian language.

Evaluation and Selection Criteria

Criteria for shortlisting of CVs will be based on the following assessment:

  • Required Degree and Qualification (5 points);
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Admin Support and/or HR Management. (5 points);
  • Working knowledge and use of computers and its programmes / applications. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spread sheet and database packages (5 points);
  • Fluency in English (5 points).

The evaluation process for selection of the candidate will be based on the following assessment:

  • Interview (70 points);
  • Written Test (30 points).

Note:

In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
