Background

United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) entered Georgia in 2001 and established its full operational presence as a Country Office in December 2013. Currently, UN Women works on the following direction: women, peace and security, elimination of violence against women, social and economic empowerment of women and mainstreaming gender into national planning and budgeting processes.

As the UN Women Country Office recently moved into the new premises, it intends to hire an office cleaner, to maintain office premises clean at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of UN Women Administrative Assistant, office cleaner will:

  • Perform cleaning functions as required, including washing, sweeping, dusting, vacuum-cleaning and polishing all spaces in the CO, including individual offices, the conference room and the hallway;
  • Clean, wash, dust and polish all surfaces, including floors, mirrors, furniture, walls, doors, windows, carpets, etc.;
  • Regularly empty and clean waste-paper baskets;
  • Clean bathrooms, including the toilet, sink, mirror, walls and floor, and ensure timely replacement of bathroom supplies (toilet paper, air freshener, soap, paper towels, etc.);
  • Clean office kitchen and ensure timely replacement of kitchen supplies;
  • Regularly wash dishes;
  • Clean balcony;
  • Dust and clean the outer surfaces of computer equipment;
  • Assist in the preparation of the meeting/conference room for meetings/conferences and other events as required;
  • Ensure bi-weekly cleaning/washing/sweeping of the staircase and landing/hallway adjacent to the office;
  • Ensure the secure locking of the office premises after concluding the cleaning work;
  • Be accessible by phone at all times;
  • Perform other duties and functions as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications:

  • Primary education certificate; secondary education is desirable.

Years of Experience: 

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in performing cleaning duties in similar settings.

Competencies:

  • Previous work experience with the UN and/or other international organizations;

Language requirement:

  • Fluency in Georgian, knowledge of English is an asset
