Background

The Human Resource Section is responsible for the timely, accurate, equitable, effective and efficient delivery of all human resources management services, i.e., strategic staff planning, recruitment, staff administration, organizational and design and learning/career development, for the continuous development and improvement in human resource operations, policies, and methods to align with UN Women evolving business needs and for providing advisory support to the Executive Director in the formulation and implementation of UN Women's overall mission, strategy and plans of actions.

The Global Workforce Survey is conducted every two years to obtain quantitative and qualitative data on personnel engagement to maintain continuous quality improvement.  The Global Engagement Survey HR Intern will work with the HR Workplace Relations and Development team, and report to the HR Learning and Career Development Specialist to help review survey responses, and develop insightful reports which summarize survey data, highlight key findings, and support working groups to provide a set of actionable recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review main qualitative and quantitative survey report, and help create summary sub-reports for internal client units using key demographic criteria

  • Draft and edit executive summary sub-reports on comparative findings
  • Run key significant-differences sub-reports, and draft bespoke analytical insights

Support the formation and function of survey follow-up working groups

  • Revise Terms of Reference for working groups, and help recruit members
  • Coordinate and support meetings, and monitor progress and timelines

Assist with communications to internal client units on interpretations and follow up steps

  • Create charts, tables, graphs and dashboards to summarise and convey findings
  • Create clear concise PowerPoint Presentations for clients summarizing data insights, outcomes and implications in a straight-forward and enlightening way

Required Skills and Experience

  • The intern must have studies in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Public Administration, Statistics, or related fields, with focus on research, analysis, and statistics or other similar subject at the university level. Master’s degree students preferred
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  • Experience with engagement survey metrics, and related analyses is an asset
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Suite with ability to work with large data sets
