Background

As a development partner of the Government of the Philippines for over forty years, UNDP has been working to make the lives of ordinary Filipinos better. UNDP focuses on three programmes, namely: democratic governance, resilience and peacebuilding, and inclusive and sustainable development. UNDP supports the country’s development objectives by developing capacities at the national and local levels and bringing global resources, expertise and experience to the Philippines.

 

Under the general supervision of the Management Support Unit (MSU) Team Leader and reporting directly to the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Analyst, the MSU M&E Intern will provide support services to the effective and timely preparation of M&E data and information for the 2017 Independent Country Programme Evaluation (ICPE) and the 2017 Results Oriented Annual Report (ROAR). These support services involve consolidating and reviewing results data from programme and project M&E documents. The MSU M&E Intern will also provide support to the conduct of Monitoring & Evaluation workshops (e.g. Theory of Change, Social and Environmental Standards) in support of the current country programme 2012-18 and the formulation of the next country programme 2019-23.

 

The MSU Intern works in close collaboration with MSU, Programme and Operations teams in the CO, and may be required to engage with project staff and staff of other UN Agencies. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Support to implementation of the CO’s M&E Strategy

  • Support in consolidating and reviewing progress data from programme and project M&E documents and from reports published by UNDP partners;
  • Assist in updating the programme results monitoring dashboard;
  • Assist in developing M&E tools and templates for the CO; and
  • Logistical support in organizing M&E trainings

Performs other related tasks as may be identified by his/her supervisor

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:

  • (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);

  • (c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation. and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation. Preferably with university units in Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any related field. 

Experience:

  • Some relevant experience in statistics and M&E-related technical support work;
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills with experience in data management;
  • Background and interest in the analysis of socio-economic issues and related policy matters.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Filipino and English.
