Background

UNDP in Myanmar has been working with women’s Self Reliant Groups (SRGs) and their federations in different ways for almost two decades. Under its earlier Human Development Initiative (HDI), UNDP supported the formation and training of SRGs as women’s community/village-based savings and loans rotating ‘common funds’ to promote livelihood initiatives, access to credit, and improved skills and strengthening of social capital particularly of poor and disadvantaged rural women.
