Background

UNDP Bahrain is in need of enhancing its publications in the Arabic language to support communication with stakeholders and local Arabic media at large.

 

Objectives

The consultancy is expected to produce overall one result:

- The consultant is expected to support and backstop the office with drafting and editing Arabic communication material in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures implementation of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach for the country office focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Conduct some research in certain areas and topics assigned in relation to speeches, presentations, etc.

  • Proofread relevant content according to instructions from Programme Officer

  • Establish and maintain working relationship with local, regional, and global Arabic media outlets.

  • Edit relevant communications content, check the quality of the final text and ensure its correctness.

  • Revisit the edited text as required attending to all remarks of Programme Officer.

  • Proofread documents and reports to check spelling, acronyms, abbreviations, references, etc.

  • Implement the internal and external strategies for communications and outreach.

  • Draft press releases and reports for external communication.

  • Report on CO’s activities in Arabic.

Competencies

  • Language Competency (ability to draft classic Arabic publishable language).
  • High standard understanding of Arabic language grammar and structure.
  • Stylish drafting is a plus.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Arabic, Journalism, Communications, Arabic, or other related field.

  • High level of competency in Arabic required

  • Effectiveness in meeting tight deadlines
