Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Mapping and identification of good practices in Training for Gender Equality
- Develop courses in accordance with the Training Centre’s methodology for course design
- Knowledge building and management, and building partnerships
- Analyze existing training courses, tools and other materials identified by the UN Women Training Mapping and Needs Assessment conducted in 2012.
- Identify good practices (training courses and tools) and develop a road map for their analysis, revision and up scaling.
- Organize peer and expert reviews of selected training and tools.
- Identify training tools and materials that can be easily adapted for course development, making the most of eLearning technologies.
- Supervise the editing and translation of selected courses after peer reviews.
- Supervise the packaging of selected courses.
- Coordinate pilot testing of selected courses and tools.
- Identification of other existing good practices in Training for Gender Equality and incorporate to the Training for Gender Equality Good Practices Online Database.
Develop training courses and tools in accordance with the Training Centre’s methodology for course design and in line with the priority areas resulting from the survey
- Coordinate the development of a training package on Women´s Economic Empowerment following on the results of mappings and needs assessments, in collaboration with UN Women´s Economic Empowerment section.

- Organize Peer Assistance to define content of package
- Define a roadmap
- Implement roadmap
- Identification and analysis of best practices and lessons learned
- Monitor best practices in order to ensure valuable capacity building and enable the most current available information to be provided as guidance to UN Women offices
- Enhance knowledge networks and communities of practice
- Establish effective cooperation with all involved parties within the UN system and with external entities such as training and development companies, instructors and facilitators
- Keep abreast of new developments, approaches and best practices on gender training
- Develop and manage relationships with UN Staff College, UNITAR, and other UN training institutions to maximize online training techniques
- Create opportunities to cultivate new foundation partners, strengthen existing partnership relations, maximize partnership impact through partnership events and stakeholder engagement platforms

Required Skills and Experience
- Master degree or equivalent in Education, Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, or other related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of pedagogy, training/capacity development related to Gender and/or Development, Education, or other related areas.
- Experience at the international level is highly desirable
- Experience in the design and management of e-Learning materials is highly desirable.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Knowledge of additional official UN language is an asset.
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
