Background
Simultaneously, the project will facilitate the access of women’s centers products and services to the local and tourist markets. Establishment of kiosks on one of the main highways in the West Bank will enhance the marketing skills as well as generate income of the members of women’s centers who will sell homemade food produce as well as handicrafts. In addition, a traditional homemade food restaurant will be constructed in a touristic area and will improve women’s capacities in service provision to both local and foreign customers as well as generate income for both the employees and the women’s centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifying, in coordination with UN Women, women’s stories and project activities to be documented through the video;
- Develop the documentary script in coordination with UN Women (documentary duration of 10 to 15 minutes); including the narrator text;
- Production: documenting through filmmaking the success stories as well as challenges of achieving the goals of UN Women’s component of the joint project;
- Post-production: arranging, compiling and editing the identified stories into a documentary of up to 15 minutes;
- Present the draft version of the documentary to UN Women for discussions with UN Women and revised the draft version of the documentary as discussed with UN Women
- Recording narrator’s voice in Arabic;
- Submit the 2nd draft documentary to UN Women for review and ensure all corrections are integrated Translate the documentary to English and include subtitles;
- Submit to UN Women for approval;
- Providing UN WOMEN with still photographs of the filming process for visibility, as well as still photographs to illustrate the project and its impact that can be presented in a photographic exhibition;
- Providing UN WOMEN with an original DVD of the final version of the documentary without the subtitles and an original DVD of the documentary with the subtitles included.

Time frame:- It is expected that the assignment will start on the 18 of October and will be finalized by 18 of November 2013.
- Final draft documentary script and work plan for the production and editing of the documentary (1 week after signature of the contract);
- Submission of the edited version of a 10-15 minutes documentary on DVD format (after first round of revision), before integration of the voice over narration, subtitles, soundtrack and logos (4 weeks from the signature of the contract);
- Provision of one original DVD of the final documentary and one original DVD of the documentary with subtitles;
- The final documentary is the version that received approval from UN Women, including music, subtitles, credits and logos.

Required Skills and Experience
- Diploma in Video production
- At least 4 years of proven successful experience in filmmaking;
- At least 2 years of experience in directing documentaries;
- Completion of assignments of similar nature;
- Understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment issues is an advantage;
- Understanding of the context of the occupied Palestinian territory is an added value.
- Fluency (both oral and written) in Arabic.
