I. Organizational Context

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the supervision and guidance of the Team Leader of the ECTAD Indonesia programme, the technical support of the Regional Animal Health Economist, Bangkok and the ECTAD Indonesia Veterinary Epidemiologist, the operational supervision of the ECTAD Indonesia Operations Coordinator, and the direct supervision of the National Animal Health Economist, ECTAD Indonesia, the incumbent will be responsible in providing technical advice and support on poultry production and economic issues.

II. Functions / Key Results Expected

Summary of key functions:

  • Provide technical advice and support on poultry production and economic issues related to HPAI control to ECTAD Indonesia and the Campaign Management unit;
  • In reference to the ECTAD Indonesia bio security cost-effectiveness study, work closely the FAO Commercial Poultry Health (CPH) team to perform the following:

a. Assemble collected farm data in a referenced data base;
b. Estimate productivity, and cost-benefit indicators using a partial budgeting approach; and
c. Draft quarterly reports on the costs and benefits of phased production management and bio security interventions.

  • Finalize development of poultry production tracking database, in close collaboration with the M&E team, CPH team, and participating farmers
  • Actively participate in HPAI related workshops, meetings and seminars in Indonesia and make presentations on poultry production and economic issues as required;
  • Participate in, and contribute to, FAO technical staff meetings and report; and
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications et expériences requises

V. Recruitment Qualifications


Education: 

Postgraduate degree in agricultural economics or economic- related subject

Experience: 

  •  At least five years of experience in economic analysis and statistical analysis of large times series and panel data
  • Experience of working in the commercial poultry production sector would be an asset
  • Good management skills and ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders

Language Requirements: 

Excellent English writing and speaking skills
