- The Manager also undertakes a variety of financial analysis to respond to UNDP senior management’s requirements for financial information.
- Manage the preparation of interim and biennial financial statements in accordance with UNDP financial regulations and rules and accounting policies. This includes (1) overseeing the preparation of working papers to confirm the accuracy of the account balances (2) responding to queries/requests from the Board of Audit on the financial statements.
- Oversee the timely monthly and quarterly closures of the accounts. This includes (1) ensuring that adequate internal controls are in place to support the accurate recording of financial transactions (1) coordinating the overall analysis of account balances, a task that is the responsibility of various UNDP offices; (2) ensuring that all steps are completed on a timely basis, working closely with the Regional Monitoring Teams (RMTs), Office of Information Systems and Technology (OIST), and the broader finance user community; and (3) providing regular updates to the finance community on the status of the closure process.
- Oversee the interfaces between the modules and sub-ledgers and the general ledger. This includes working closely with Systems Interface Section (SIS) and OIST to ensure that regular reconciliations are done and issues are promptly followed-up.
- Oversee the trust fund accounts and maintain corporate trust fund agreements and related records. This includes account analysis and preparation of trust fund financial statements, where necessary.
- Participate in inter-agency initiatives and committees on accounting/financial matters.

Qualifications et expériences requises
- Advanced (Masters) University Degree in Business, or Public Administration, Finance/Accounting or a relevant discipline or a professional accounting qualification certificate from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy. Those with professional accounting qualification certificate from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 5 years should be at the managerial/professional level.
- Preferably at least 5 years experience as an external auditor working in an international accounting/audit firm
- Expertise in the design and interpretation of UN Financial Policies
- Experience of working with ERP systems
- Familiarity with module interface issues batch control
- Experience in Financial Reporting
- Fluency in both written and spoken English. Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage, particularly Spanish or French
