The Government of Mozambique and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, on behalf of the United States Government, have signed a Compact Agreement for a USD 507 million grant, to be implemented in 5 years. The objective of the proposed program is to reduce poverty through economic growth in four provinces of Mozambique (Niassa, C. Delgado, Nampula, and Zambézia) by focusing on certain investments related to water/sanitation and private sector development.
For the implementation of the program, the Ministry of Planning and Development, on behalf of Millennium Challenge Account-Mozambique (MCA-Mozambique) is soliciting applications for the following positions:

Devoirs et responsabilités

Reporting to the Land and Agribusiness Manager, the Coconut Specialist, will manage and oversee the overall project implementation for the Farmer Income Support Project, including capacity building activities, to be implemented in Zambézia and Nampula Provinces, ensuring that they are in accordance with the project, sector policies and standards of all relevant Ministries. The specialist will be based in MCA office in Nampula and frequent visits to Zambézia Province will be required.

Compétences

Knowledge of phytosanitary issues related to plant diseases. Understanding of monitoring and evaluation systems.
Knowledge of the Mozambican context.

Qualifications et expériences requises

A university degree in Agronomics, Agricultural Economics or in a related field with a focus on the management of agricultural programs (Master’s degree is preferred).
A minimum of 10 years of experience in implementing smallholder assistance programs and dissemination of improving farming practices to beneficiaries.
Written and verbal fluency in both Portuguese and English is required.
Computer skills. Experience using specialized computer programs, particularly Geographic Information Systems, is highly desirable.
