Devoirs et responsabilités
- To assist the Adviser based in Dakar, in programming and delivering technical assistance activities at the national, sub-regional and regional level, in accordance with the UNODC/GPML overall programme strategy and as integral element of UNODC’s country specific and regional programmes;
- To contribute to the drafting and translation of relevant documents such as financial proposal for donor countries, AML/CFT newsletter, progress reports, etc.;
- To contribute to technical assistance provided to requesting countries in West Africa, by undertaking and facilitating organisational and substantive arrangements for technical assistance missions, including preparing substantive documentation for workshops organized, undertaking follow-up activities, participating in needs assessments and other assigned tasks, etc.;
- To Support GPML in undertaking and maintaining liaison with the relevant authorities of West African countries, mobilizing their support and undertaking substantive and programming consultations, develop networking within the framework of the implementation of regional / strategy programmes and/or plans of cooperation;
- To provide substantive input as requested by UNODC for liaison with, and for relevant meetings and initiatives of, domestic and regional organizations/processes, especially ECOWAS/GIABA;
- To perform other duties relevant to UNODC/ROSEN as required.

Qualifications et expériences requises
Education:
- Master’s Degree, preferably in law.
- Experience in delivering technical assistance in areas of interest to the UNODC mandate, e.g. crime prevention, law enforcement, criminal justice, security sector reform;
- Experience in project coordination and implementation, including administrative and financial backstopping, monitoring programme delivery, etc.
- Experience in scheduling meetings and providing logistics;
- Experience in drafting and translating project related documents, e.g. project proposals, background papers, evaluation and progress reports,etc.
- Experience in carrying out research on topics of interest to the UNODC mandate;
- Experience in understanding practical, institutional and other challenges and vulnerabilities in implementing technical activities in the context of West African countries ;
- Knowledge of the work and administrative/financial processes of the United Nations Office on drugs and crime is an asset;
- Availability to travel throughout the West Africa region on an occasional basis.
Language Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills in English and French;
- Knowledge of Portuguese is an asset.
