UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations (UN), works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, the UN Women leads and coordinate UN system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. The Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) Project manager will be based in Bratislava Sub-regional Office (SRO) and report directly to the Regional Programme Director (RPD) and closely cooperate with UN Women Central and Southeastern Europe (CSEE) Programme Specialist. The EVAW project covers all of the core-funded activities, initiatives and campaigns planned for the sub-region for the year 2012, and ranges from supporting the capacity building of providers of Domestic Violence (DV) protection services in Kosovo to leading the work being doing under the UNiTE campaign for the sub-region. The EVAW Project manager will also serve as a UN Women CSEE Focal Point for UN Trust Fund (UNTF) on EVAW and in this respect liaise directly with administrators of UN TF in UN Women HQ. He/she ensures effective implementation of the sub-regional project on EVAW and provides advice to the implementing partners as per his/her job description, and overall acts in line with UN rules and regulations.

Note: UN Women is currently in the process of strengthening its field capacities at country and regional levels, including through structural changes. This process may necessitate limited changes to the precise functions described below. There is also a possibility that this position will at some point be relocated to a different duty station within the region. Summary of key functions: - Effective Management of sub-regional core EVAW Project
- Technical Support to UN TF, including technical advice to CSEE grantees
- Advocacy and Partnership Development with key national and regional bodies on EVAW
Description of Duties : Effective Management of sub-regional core EVAW Project - Ensuring coherent and effective implementation of UN Women CSEE Human Rights/Ending of Violence Against Women Project (HR-EVAW) using results based approach;
- Coordinating timely delivery of high quality HR-EVAW Project narrative and financial reports, including support for NGO and partners reports;
- Overseeing budget management of the HR-EVAW Project;
- Monitoring, documenting and evaluating progress according to the project monitoring plan and take measures to close the gaps
- Providing overall technical support for capacity development of the implementing partners under the HR-EVAW Project as per project monitoring results;
- Representing UN Women in workshops, conferences, work meetings – presenting results achieved under the Project;
- Facilitating partnerships among stakeholders in the region and presenting the results of Strategic Plan and Annual Work Plan (SN-AWP) HR-EVAW project
Technical Support to UN TF, including technical advice to CSEE grantees - Fulfilling the function of UN TF in Support of Action to EVAW focal point on behalf of UN Women CSEE;
- Monitoring progress towards implementation of UN TF projects in CSEE region, and Providing regular feedback to RPD and UN TF Team in HQ on progress achieved under both, HR-EVAW Project and UN TF in Support to Actions to EVAW project in CSEE region;
- Providing technical advice to UN TF grantees as per their request/ needs;
- Supporting process of the new cycle of UN TF calls and the selection process.
Advocacy and Partnership Development with key national and regional bodies on EVAW - Supporting networking and information sharing, including exchange of good practices among NGOs and national and local authorities in CSEE on coordinated response to Violence against Women (VAW);
- Support for developing regional initiatives that extend beyond the CSEE sub-region to the Europe an Central Asia (ECA) region, but also the EU Member States;
- On behalf of UN Women CSEE and with authorization of RPD represent UN Women in regional and international fora and bodies that address EVAW, such as the Council of Europe, UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), etc. and advocate for the improvements in regional frameworks and policies impacting on EVAW in CSEE countries.
Impact of Results: - The key results have a direct impact on successful implementation of UN Women CSEE Work-Plan 2012-2013. His/Her results also significantly contribute to effective implementation of the goals of UN TF in support to EVAW in CSEE sub region.

Qualifications et expériences requises |
|
Education - Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Political Science, Gender Studies or related disciplines.
Experience: - A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Language Requirements - Fluency in English;
- Working knowledge of one of CSEE region languages is an asset.
