UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women Training Centre (TC) as the UN leading centre of excellence in training for gender equality offers training for gender equality and women’s empowerment to UN Women staff and UN agencies, as well as to government, civil society and partners. For the purpose of quality assurance, continuous learning and improvement of the products and capacity development activities offered, the UN Women Training Centre makes an extra effort to increase its response to client’s demands and review participant’s feedback. In order to do so, the UN Women Training Centre has developed recognized as well as innovative methods and tools to evaluate its training for gender equality.

The Internship is based in Santo Domingo and will support the monitoring and evaluation activities undertaken by the UN Women Training Centre. The Intern will work under the supervision of the Training Specialist.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Key tasks:
Support the monitoring and evaluation activities of the UN Women Training Centre by:

  • Assisting in collecting and analyzing data relevant for the evaluation of capacity development and training activities on gender equality
  • Assisting in preparing reports to UN agencies about their participation in the UNW TC courses.
  • Providing support in fact-checking, analyzing, organizing and preparing briefing documents, and reports;
  • Providing support in setting up work flow processes and systems;
  • Providing other assistance for the monitoring and evaluation processes as required.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • Have studies in Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, or other similar subjects at the university level;
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Experience:

  • Strong academic background in gender studies, social sciences, international development or other related field;
  • Experience with data collection and working in an international environment

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • A good working knowledge of Spanish would be an asset.

Conditions:

  • UN Women will not pay for the internship; all the expenses connected with it will be borne by the intern;
  • UN Women accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • The Intern must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan;
  • The Intern will not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UN Women during the period of my internship or for the six months immediately following the expiration date thereof;
  • The Intern will be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.

Once the candidate has been selected, the following additional documents need to be submitted:

  • Letter of enrolment from school or proof of (Master’s programme) graduation if within less than one year;
  • Scanned visa document/scanned passport document if no visa is required;
  • Scanned medical insurance document.
