Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Resident Representative and the Programme Specialist – Environment, Extractive Industry and Energy and direct supervision of the Programme Analyst –Guyana REDD+ Investment Fund (GRIF), the GRIF ALT Statistical Assistant also functions as the Spatial Data Technician and ensures effective delivery of the CO programme by entering and managing geospatial data, supervising cadastral surveys and supporting programme implementation consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.
The GRIF ALT Statistical Assistant also functions as the Spatial Data Technician and also works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ staff in UNDP the and Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs (MoIPA) as required for resolving complex land titling and programme-related issues and exchange of information.

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Provides surveying expertise in ensuring compliance with established Government of Guyana standards, guidelines and regulations governing land titling and demarcation;
  • Performs functions in relation to planning, implementation to the close-out of all demarcations and cadastral surveys for Amerindian villages.

Provides surveying expertise in ensuring compliance with established Government of Guyana standards, guidelines and regulations governing land titling and demarcation focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Preparation and maintenance of sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in coordination with the Guyana Lands & Surveys Commission (GL&SC) surveyors and staff, Guyana Forestry Commission, Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and any other relevant departments, offices and staff;
  • Verification of the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites;
  • Provision of assistance in conducting surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on information submitted by the communities;
  • Recording the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features;
  • Preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys as needed or required by the Ministry;
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.

Performs functions in relation to planning, implementation to the close-out of all demarcations and cadastral surveys for Amerindian villages focusing on the achievement of the  following results:

  • In coordination with the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Land Registry, search legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain information about property/land boundaries in areas to be surveyed;
  • Provision of all GIS and related technical information that may be needed by the Project Manager in the drafting of reports;
  • Provision of assistance in the preparation of technical reports for Investigative missions;
  • Preparation, monitoring and maintenance of records for demarcations;
  • Review and recommendation of claims for payments on contracts;
  • Review and assessment of all submissions such as technical reports and field work;
  • Performance of other related duties and responsibilities as may be determined from time to time.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Completed Secondary School Education with Certification in Land Surveying.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a sworn land surveyor;
  • Work experience in drafting of related technical reports;
  • Work experience in use of GIS related software;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

Language: 

  • Fluency in English language.
