The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) offers a selected group of outstanding graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to IICPSD's work as a Center of excellence for private sector in development and inclusive markets. 2015 is a historic year, it marks the end of the MDGs and the beginning of a new and much more ambitious global development agenda; the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the need to create a common ground for discussion on multi-stakeholder partnerships in the implementation of the SDGs, Istanbul IICPSD will organize a two days-long event entitled “Building Multi-stakeholder Partnerships for Implementing the SDGs”. The event aims to expand the discussions on the role of the private sector to the next level by focusing on ways of mobilizing and sharing knowledge and expertise, technology and financial resources to achieve the goals. Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development seeks to enlist a full-time communications intern who will support with social media outreach. The intern will assist in drafting messages for Twitter and Facebook, engaging IICPSD’s social media audience and monitoring all social media accounts. The Programme operates under the rules and regulations of the UNDP Internship Policy.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of IICPSD, the intern is expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Draft blog posts and other communications materials publicizing the work of the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development(IICPSD) and other relevant UNDP research and analysis, for placement on/publication in relevant internal (UNDP) and necessary external websites and media;
  • Assist with the writing of event summaries;
  • Support in improving the content presentation of the IICPSD webpage according to the style and outline used by UNDP;
  • Support the visibility/outreach and knowledge-sharing events of IICPSD and create awareness among relevant organizations of the Center’s ongoing activities;
  • Research additional content on SDGs and draft messages and tweets for @IICPSD and www.facebook.com/IICPSD;
  • Actively expand the network of followers;
  • Monitor other important media/web sites of regional and global significance (e.g., World Bank, IMF, EBRD, Asia Development Bank, The Economist, Wall Street Journal, Economist Intelligence Unit, BBC, RFE/RL—as well as those of universities, think tanks, consultancies, individuals) for relevant analytical and communications content pertaining to important (and other development) trends related to SDGs;
  • Provide administrative support on an as-needed basis;
  • Other relevant tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level degree programme in communication, public relations, journalism or other relevant/related field as a full-time student at the time of application to the internship.

Experience:

  • Available for working in the IICPSD for a period of 3-6 months. (Applicants available for six months are preferred. Applicants must state their availability);
  • Have an appropriate communications background with previous engagement in social media initiatives;
  • An understanding in economic or development issues is an advantage;
  • Excellent writing skills, as well as strong analytical aptitude and strong communication skills;
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Be willing to work within the framework of IICPSD’s internship policies;
  • Experience with websites, content development and graphic design is highly desirable.

Language:

  • Fluent in English with excellent reading and writing skills;
  •  Fluency in Turkish and knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Conditions of Service

IICPSD internships are non-paid and travel expenses are not covered.
