Historique

The UN Office for South-South Cooperation works to facilitate the exchange of resources, technology and knowledge between developing countries. It works across the UN system and throughout the international development community by leveraging its global reach as well as its policy and institutional capacities to assist UN agencies and developing countries in strengthening their South-South cooperation capacities.  UNOSSC is a UN organization hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

The World Alliance of Cities Against Poverty is a global partnership facility and platform committed to the vision of establishing a global network of cities working together to meet their current and future development goals – with the aim of improving the quality of life, the urban environment and opportunities for all citizens.  Is hosted at and supported by UNOSSC, through its European Regional Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Devoirs et responsabilités

  • Support UNOSSC/WACAP through research, editing, and writing specific assignments;
  • Support donor intelligence, to expand and deepen reporting on donor sentiment, trends and politics. Looking for opportunities to partner with other organizations and networks focusing on urban challenges;
  • Contribute to the improvement of the WACAP website, and its expansion into Spanish, and French through research, cross-checking, writing and editing;
  • Writing/editing news stories for the WACAP Website and actively engaging in social media (in Spanish and French), including Twitter, Facebook, etc and issues related to urban challenges;
  • Reports to the UNOSSC Assistant Director, Regional Representative for Europe, who also is the Coordinator, World Alliance of Cities Against Poverty;
  • The two (2) interns are needed for the internship under the same job description with different language requirements.  Each applicant should submit a letter of application highlighting the language of preference: 1) English/French or 2) English/Spanish

Compétences

  • Have a good understanding of strategic communication and how it can contribute to the achievement of specific goals;
  • Possess excellent writing skills in the language assignment/requirement they are being considered 1) English/French; 2) English/Spanish;
  • Be able to write quickly, clearly and concisely;
  • Have an understanding of, and experience with web site management and the major social media channels;
  • Be familiar with global development issues and the world of the UN.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Enrolled in a master's programme in the areas of communication, sustainable development or related field in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship (if a candidate is graduating  before the internship period begins,  they are no longer eligible).

Experience:

  • Experience wokring collaboratively in a team structure in a multicultural environment;

Language:

  • Proficiency in English;
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish.
