UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Deberes y responsabilidades

Assist in the Implementation of procurement and operational strategies focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Understand the compliance of procurement activities with UNWOMEN rules, regulations, policies and strategies;
  • Support the office’s procurement business processes mapping and the elaboration of internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Procurement, in consultation with direct supervisor and management.
Support the  timely, effective and accurate procurement services to clients, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Follow-up with product developments and deadlines;
  • Assist with the creation of technical specifications and Inco terms in cooperation with clients, applying any corrective measures to ensure that customers’ expectations are met;
  • Assist with Oral/written response to routine queries from UNWOMEN staff in the Regional Offices, Country Offices, and other stakeholders on procurement issues;
  • Proactive exchange of information on a variety of procurement process and transaction issues to clients;
  • Assist in the recording of all steps to ensure full transparency and accountability;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant market developments. Reports preparation. Analysis of procurement needs and historical procurement. Management of vendor performance.
Provision of support to the procurement processes
  • Support to the procurement staff in preparation of procurement plans for the office and Projects and their implementation monitoring;
  • Support and learn in the preparation documentation of procurement processes including preparation and conduct of RFQs, ITBs or RFPs, bids or proposal evaluation;
  • Support to the procurement unit in updating the rosters of suppliers and consultant.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education and Certification: 
  • Must be enrolled in a degree programme (Masters or equivalent) in a graduate school at the time of application and during the internship.
Experience: 
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of database packages is preferable.
Language Requirement: 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
UN-Women Internship Conditions :
  • UN WOMEN will not pay for the internship; all the expenses connected with it will be borne by the intern;
  • UN WOMEN accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship; The Intern must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan;
  • The Intern will not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UN WOMEN during the period of my internship or for the six months immediately following the expiration date thereof;
  • The Intern will be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
Note:
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
